Anutin Deeply Regrets Thepsirin School Shooting, Orders Urgent Care for the Injured

The Prime Minister revealed feeling very bad about the shooting at a school in Nonthaburi, expressing deep sorrow for the deceased and questioning how such an event could happen in the country. He pointed out this as a reason why the government refuses to renew firearm carry permits.

On 7 August 2026 at 11:11 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul stated that he had received reports about the shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi province. He ordered immediate care for the injured and instructed relevant officials to be deployed to the area.

“It is very bad, the incident that occurred,” the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister expressed condolences to the deceased, saying he was deeply saddened and sympathized, wondering how such an event could happen in our country. He added this is why the government does not permit renewing firearm carry and possession licenses—because of reasons like this.

When asked how the government would proceed with the perpetrator's guardians regarding the firearm issue, the Prime Minister did not answer but only nodded before immediately leaving the interview.
