Dr. Supat submitted a letter to the Parliamentary Committee on Budget Management requesting an audit of the Ministry of Public Health's event budget to ensure transparency and efficiency.
At 09:30 on 7 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee on Budget Preparation and Monitoring, received a letter from Dr. Supat Hasuwannakit, advisor to the Chair of the Committee on Political Development, Mass Communication, and Public Participation. The letter requested an audit of the budget and off-budget spending on events by the Ministry of Public Health, specifically through the National Health Security Office (NHSO), which has hired multiple event organizer companies nationwide. There are concerns that this spending may be inefficient, prompting a call for an investigation into transparency and budget effectiveness to benefit public health.
After receiving the letter, Ms. Rakchanok Srinok stated that organizing events is not inherently wrong if they benefit the public. However, the use and allocation of event budgets to each province should be clearly explained, transparent, and subject to verification. She confirmed that the matter will be brought before the Parliamentary Committee for consideration on corrective measures and ongoing monitoring.
