Government to Discuss Compensation for Victims of Thepsirin School Shooting, Offering 1 Million Baht for Deaths

The government is preparing to hold a meeting this afternoon to discuss compensation for disaster victims following the shooting at Thepsirin School. Compensation will be 1 million baht for deaths, 700,000 baht for disabilities, and 200,000 baht for severe injuries.


On 7 August 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul expressed condolences to the families of those who died in the shooting by a male student at Thepsirin School in Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi Province, and has ordered relevant agencies to urgently provide assistance and compensation.


Ms. Ratchada stated that Mr. Pradorn Prissanantakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and chairman of the Disaster Assistance Fund committee, will convene a meeting this afternoon to consider compensation from the Disaster Assistance Fund. The proposed amounts, based on previous incident assistance, are as follows: 1,000,000 baht for deaths, 700,000 baht for disabilities, 200,000 baht for severe injuries, and 100,000 baht for minor injuries.


Regarding assistance from the Department of Rights and Liberties Protection, Ministry of Justice, support has already been provided under the Compensation Act for victims and defendants in criminal cases.


“The government expresses condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured in the incident and is coordinating assistance from government agencies to provide comprehensive support in all aspects, as ordered by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul,” Ms. Ratchada said.
