Health Minister Patthana revealed that among three students at Phra Nangklao Hospital, two have stabilized and are out of danger. Meanwhile, a 12-year-old girl remains comatose with a bullet lodged in her head. Doctors are providing full support and have urgently deployed MCATT teams to aid the mental recovery of teachers and students.
On 7 August 2026 at 17:00, Mr. Patthana Prompattana, Minister of Public Health, visited Phra Nangklao Hospital to monitor the condition of three students from Thepsirin Nonthaburi School who were undergoing surgery.
After reviewing their conditions and visiting the patients, Minister Patthana stated that Phra Nangklao Hospital admitted three critical (red code) cases. Doctors reported that two patients have stabilized post-surgery and are expected to soon be out of danger. However, one female student remains in a serious condition due to a gunshot wound to the head with the bullet still lodged inside. Physicians are closely monitoring her vital signs before deciding on surgery to remove the bullet.
The latest death toll totals eight victims, including six at the scene and school—comprising five teachers and the student perpetrator—and two grandparents.
As of 16:00, approximately 29 people have been injured, including 10 critical (red code) patients, seven of whom are students. These patients have been treated at various hospitals, with some still receiving care at Phra Nangklao Hospital.
Minister Patthana addressed medical care, confirming that all injured receive full treatment under UCEP (Universal Coverage for Emergency Patients) rights during the first 72 hours. Afterward, treatment continues under regular healthcare rights and related insurance. Phra Nangklao Hospital is fully prepared to provide ongoing care until patients recover.
Regarding blood donations, the hospital noted that despite a large public turnout exceeding normal levels, the blood donation center remains open to continuously collect supplies for emergency reserves.
Additionally, the Department of Mental Health has dispatched seven MCATT teams immediately to the affected school to assess and support the psychological well-being of those impacted. Their work is divided into three groups: teachers and students directly involved in the incident, families and friends aware of the event, and school administrators with homeroom teachers.
The Ministry of Public Health has instructed continuous long-term mental health monitoring, even after the school resumes normal operations, to prevent any subsequent psychological effects.
