The government has dispatched the MCATT team to provide psychological support to those affected by the tragic incident at Debsirin School in Nonthaburi, and urges cooperation to avoid sharing violent images and clips in order to reduce psychological impacts on children and youth.
On 8 August 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Saengchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that following the shooting incident at Debsirin School, Nonthaburi, the government is concerned for those affected by the violence. It has assigned the Mental Health Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (MCATT) to the area to provide Psychological First Aid (PFA) and to plan short-, medium-, and long-term mental health recovery. This covers the injured, their families, students, teachers, educational staff, and the public impacted, aiming to reduce psychological harm and promote continuous recovery.
The government requests the public to follow information only from official agencies and reliable sources, and to avoid sharing violent images, clips, or content, including unnecessary details about the perpetrator or methods used, to lessen psychological effects on children and youth who might absorb violence through media. It also asks parents and teachers to closely care for children by limiting exposure to violent media, allowing children to express feelings without pressing them to repeatedly recount the event, and to observe any abnormal emotional signs. This is to prevent emotional and psychological harm. Mental health consultations for children and families are available 24 hours a day at 1415, and general mental health consultations can be accessed via the 1323 hotline around the clock.
The government expresses deepest condolences to the families of the victims and offers support to those injured in this incident. It stands ready to coordinate with all sectors to continuously monitor and care for those affected and to support appropriate mental health recovery efforts.
