On 8 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Seththa Thavisin, former prime minister, posted on his personal Facebook page that yesterday's event (the shooting at Debsirin School) deeply saddened all Thai people. Today, many children and youths shared their experiences of being bullied, many of which had never been known before.
Bullying does not only mean using force or harsh words but also includes ignoring, exclusion, teasing, humiliation, or making someone feel worthless. These can leave invisible scars that stay with the person for a long time. Schools should be safe spaces, families should be places that listen, and society should not let anyone face problems alone.
“To all young people, differences are not reasons to hurt one another. We are all born different, but everyone has value and deserves equal respect. To all adults, today may be the time to listen more, observe more, and act faster to help, because often timely assistance can change a child's life.”
Mr. Seththa added that no words or actions are worth causing someone to lose faith in themselves. A good society is not measured by the absence of problems but by not ignoring each other's suffering.
