Anutin Accompanies Wife to Inspect OTOP Event, Tries on 1.35 Million Baht White Gold Ruby Necklace

Prime Minister Anutin accompanied by his wife inspected preparations for the OTOP Silapakorn fair before its official opening this Monday, stopping to view a white gold necklace with diamonds surrounding a 'Kin Bo Siang' ruby valued at 1.35 million baht. Vendors praised the “Thai Help Thai Plus” project.

At 14:35 on 8 August 2026, at the Challenger Building, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Minister of Interior personally inspected preparations for the “Silapakorn Prateep Thai OTOP United by Royal Grace” event for 2026, held from 8–16 August at Challenger Buildings 1–3. The Prime Minister will officially open the event on Monday, 10 August. Many members of the public attended to support OTOP products. Joining were Mrs. Thanon Charnvirakul, wife of the Prime Minister; Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry; Mr. Atsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; and Mr. Siam Sirimongkol, Director-General of the Community Development Department.

The Prime Minister invited all Thai citizens to purchase items at the OTOP Silapakorn fair, which is similar to the OTOP event but focuses on products from the Silapakorn project supported by several members of the royal family.

The Prime Minister then toured various products at the event, including food, jewelry, Thai textiles, and handicrafts. His first stop was at Phet Ice Cream booth, where he ordered fresh coconut ice cream. He also sampled brown rice tea and purchased products from the Lipea area, as well as Lin Laplae durians. Along the way, he stopped at a tie-dye fabric booth where a Chinese YouTuber was live selling products. The Prime Minister watched with interest, then greeted the online audience in Chinese. He greeted vendors and wished them good sales.

Attendees approached to take photos and chat with the Prime Minister. Several vendors praised the “Thai Help Thai Plus” 60:40 project. When the Prime Minister asked if it was good, vendors replied it was excellent and asked if it would continue. He responded that he would try to make it happen.

Reporters noted that while touring the event, the Prime Minister stopped at the Color Gems booth from Chanthaburi province. He showed interest in a white gold necklace adorned with diamonds surrounding a 'Kin Bo Siang' ruby, priced at approximately 1.35 million baht. He asked Mrs. Thanon to try it on. The ruby features two colors within a single stone. The phrase “Kin Bo Siang” is a Northern and Northeastern dialect meaning "never lacking to eat or use," symbolizing wealth and continuous prosperity. Ownership is believed to bring luck, wealth, and endless prosperity. Mrs. Thanon expressed interest in ordering if the vendor could make the color and size of the gems uniform along the entire necklace.

Later, Prime Minister Anutin posted a clarification stating he did not buy the necklace but only tried it on at the vendor’s request during the OTOP event.
