On 8 August 2026, Mr. Julpan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labour, expressed concern for the families of those killed and injured in the shooting at Thepsirin School in Nonthaburi on 7 August 2026 at around 10:00 a.m., which resulted in 8 deaths and 21 injuries. He assigned Ms. Kanchana Phulkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, to verify facts and accelerate assistance and compensation for those affected, emphasizing that the deceased and injured must receive their full rights from the social security and compensation funds quickly and fairly.
Ms. Kanchana Phulkaew, Secretary-General of the Social Security Office, revealed that after the incident, she assigned Mr. Prayok Kulcharoen, Social Security Officer of Nonthaburi Province, to review initial data of the deceased and injured. Among the 8 deceased, 6 were current or former insured persons, including 3 injured due to work and 2 deceased. One deceased was under Social Security Section 40 and 3 others had been insured previously. Details are as follows.
Those injured or deceased due to work receive benefits from the compensation fund. For the 2 deceased—Mrs. Saifon Sirikitjakorn and Ms. Praphaporn Konsila—they receive funeral expenses of 50,000 baht, death compensation paid at 70% of wages for 10 years, and old-age pension payments.
For the 3 injured due to work, they receive medical expenses as actually incurred and necessary under ministerial regulations, compensation for work absence of at least one day at 70% of wages for up to one year.
Compensation for loss of organs or work capacity is paid at 70% of wages for up to 10 years.
For illness or death not related to work, one insured person under Section 40’s heirs are entitled to old-age pension from the social security fund, and 3 former insured persons’ heirs also have rights to old-age pension payments from the social security fund.
