Prit Watcharasindhu exposes that a minister’s team transferred 860,000 baht to Election Commission officials during the 2024 Senate election and calls on the Election Commission to investigate. He is confident there is firm evidence linking the money trails to six corruption networks across six provinces.
On 9 August 2026, the opposition coalition whip committee held an in-depth forum on evidence regarding Senate election fraud in region 4, focusing on orders, money trails, and connections, at the Parliament. During the discussion, Prit Watcharasindhu, a party-list Member of Parliament for the Prachachon Party, said that after examining the financial trails in the Senate election fraud cases across four areas,
1. Nakhon Phanom Province It was found that on 21 June 2024, one Senator from group 19 transferred 31,000 baht to a company to purchase airline tickets for that Senator and seven other Senate candidates. However, two of them did not travel as per the tickets bought.
2. Lamphun Province Money transfers were made from a local government official to seven Senate candidates totaling 21,000 baht. Some claimed it was for grilled pork expenses. Although this official was not a candidate, he gathered at a company of two Senators. It is unclear if this official worked for both Senators, but it is confirmed that the candidates’ numbers of those two Senators appeared on every ballot in group 16.
3. Songkhla Province One Senator in group 10 transferred 1.5 million baht to two Senate candidates, and another Senator transferred 60,000 baht to a candidate, claiming it was a donation to a local educational institution. It is possible these payments were meant to distribute vote-buying agents widely.
4. Amnat Charoen Province It was found that a provincial council member and a team member of a minister transferred 860,000 baht in 13 installments to investigation and adjudication officers of the Election Commission between April and July 2024, coinciding with the Senate election period. He questioned whether the Election Commission had interrogated these two individuals.
Prit added that if the Election Commission claimed these transfers were unrelated to the Senate election, then why were there no further transfers from the minister’s team to investigation officers in the latter half of 2024? Transfers occurred only between April and July 2024, raising suspicion about their connection to the Senate election. If these were for other duties, transfers would likely have occurred during other months as well. The disclosed financial trails spread across six provinces—Lamphun, Nong Bua Lamphu, Surat Thani, Nakhon Phanom, Amnat Charoen, and Songkhla—show a coordinated system linking these provinces. This is credible evidence of corruption that the Election Commission must refer to the court for consideration.
