Minister Nikorn Follows Up on Car Crash at Kanchanaburi Childcare Center, Urges Prompt Psychological and Welfare Support for Injured Children

Nikorn Somkalang, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, visited the site of a car crash at a childcare center in Kanchanaburi, ordering swift psychological support and welfare assistance for the injured children.


On 10 Aug 2026, Nikorn Somkalang, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, traveled to the Ban Nong Song Ton Child Development Center in Kaeng Sian Subdistrict, Kanchanaburi Province, to monitor the situation following a car crashing into the center. He spoke with teachers, staff, and families of the injured children to listen closely to their concerns, living conditions, and support needs.



Nikorn revealed that most of the injured children have received treatment and been discharged to return home. However, one child remains under close medical supervision. He emphasized and instructed all relevant agencies to urgently follow up on medical care, psychological recovery, and continuous social welfare support.



Additionally, on 10 Aug 2026, the Department of Children and Youth, together with Kanchanaburi’s provincial social development office, sent teams of social workers and psychologists to visit the children’s homes. They are assessing mental health, living conditions, and determining appropriate further assistance. They also extended encouragement to the children, their families, and teachers to overcome this situation and recover swiftly.
