Suchart denied knowing the real details of the green snake defection rumor, saying he only encounters Boonying, the Kla Tham MP, in parliament and praised Anutin's government as strong. He stated that the government has managed to get through much more serious COVID-19 crises.
At 09:50 on 11 Aug 2026 at Government House, Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment and a Bhumjaithai Party leader, was interviewed about the rumor that 10 Kla Tham MPs would defect to Bhumjaithai. He said he only follows this from the media and is not involved in any talks. He genuinely does not know about it. He said if he knew, he wouldn’t keep it to himself and would share if asked. But since he doesn’t know, he must admit publicly he really does not know and has not followed it, considering it a matter of individual opinions and does not want to intrude on anyone’s feelings.
When asked if he exchanged information with Boonying Nitikanjana, Kla Tham MP from Ratchaburi, Suchart said that recently they have mostly met in parliament but have not talked. Boonying is a senior figure; he has only seen news reports and has not checked on this matter. He thinks the media probably have more information than he does.
Asked if the government, after 3-4 months, intends to recruit anyone else, Suchart said this is a matter for party leadership. He is not a party executive, just a member and one MP among 197. Decisions on party and government direction are up to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, who is also the party leader. Suchart said he cannot be part of that decision-making circle.
Asked if this news was intended to overshadow the Red and Green party currents, Suchart said he believes that all 500 politicians in parliament follow news from the media and no one truly knows the facts. He called it political color; if there is a source, whether true or false depends on the source the media received the information from.
Asked about criticisms that this government will not complete its term, Suchart said he believes Anutin’s government is strong. All ministers are confident in their work. Having served as a cabinet minister since 2019 for 6-7 years, he has seen all governments face factual challenges, not just from opposition or critics who try to destabilize the government by flooding it with information. But if the government stands firm, as the prime minister said, by working for the nation, nothing can harm it.
When pressed about current problems besetting the government, Suchart said these are still less severe than during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was the worst crisis for the country. Both Anutin and he experienced that period—Anutin as deputy prime minister and minister of public health responsible for the entire country, and Suchart as labor minister responsible for over 10 million workers. He said the most frightening problems are global crises or uncontrollable issues, which are worse than today’s challenges.
