On 11 August 2026, reporters reported that during the late morning today, Krieng Kalpitanant, former Deputy Minister of Interior and former MP for Ubon Ratchathani from the Pheu Thai Party, passed away peacefully at the age of 73. At Vichaiyut Hospital in Bangkok, with reports indicating his body will be transported back to Ubon Ratchathani for religious ceremonies tomorrow (12 August), presumably due to illness.
Meanwhile, Phittaya Chaisongkram, Mayor of Ubon Ratchathani, wife of Warasit Kalpitanant, Krieng’s son, posted a message expressing condolences on Facebook.Facebookstated that “Announcing that Mr. Krieng Kalpitanant passed away peacefully on 11 August. At 11:45 a.m., Warasit Kalpitanant, the son, posted a video clip with a message stating, “Mr. #KriengKalpitanant passed away at 10:35 a.m. The funeral rites will be held at Ban Du. Exact dates and times will be announced later. With respect.” It is expected that the body will arrive in Ubon Ratchathani around 3 p.m. on 12 August, with the first funeral rite on 13 August.
