Suksamruay outlined three criteria and qualifications for village funds under the “Thai Help Thai: Capital Increase, Half-Interest” project, which helps members reduce interest by 50%. She emphasized that if funds receive money but do not comply with the conditions, the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office (NVUCFO) has the authority to reclaim the funds.
On 11 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Mrs. Suksamruay Wantaneeyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Chairperson of the National Village and Urban Community Fund Committee (NVUCFC), revealed the approach to driving the "Thai Help Thai: Capital Increase, Half-Interest" project. The government has allocated a budget of 4,452,000,000 baht for this important initiative to assist village fund members, especially during tough economic times when people need to increase their income. This creates a greater need to utilize village fund financial mechanisms to generate liquidity in production and occupations, boosting income and providing long-term benefits to fund members. The project enables village funds to reduce loan interest rates for members, cutting the rate on Loan Account 1 by at least half for contracts starting in the current fiscal year. This will give members lower new interest rates, effectively reducing their interest burden directly, aligning with the Prime Minister's policy to lower citizens' expenses. The project invites interested village funds to apply promptly to receive budget support, with participating funds required to meet qualifications and comply with specified criteria, including:
1. Being a village fund registered as a legal entity with a committee as required by regulations.
2. Submitting financial statements continuously for at least two years.
3. Holding member meetings to pass a resolution to reduce the Loan Account 1 interest rate by 50% for contracts in the current fiscal year, along with updating contracts and preparing clear supplementary documents.
Suksamruay said that if any village fund receives additional capital but fails to reduce interest as required, the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office (NVUCFO) has the authority to immediately reclaim the additional capital. This project is designed to ensure that government-allocated funds flow into the economy effectively.
Interested village funds can contact the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office (NVUCFO) at any of its 14 regional branches nationwide to jointly strengthen the grassroots economy.
