Prime Minister Says Kriang Kalptinan Was a Lovely Person, Explains No Plans to Change NSC Secretary

Anutin said he regretted the death of Kriang Kalptinan, describing him as a lovely person with whom he had worked during the Srettha government. He explained that there is no plan to change the NSC Secretary. He also pointed out that unsettled military reshuffle issues are not related to the Prime Minister.


11 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Anutin Charnvirakul The Prime Minister and Minister of Interior revealed after the Cabinet meeting that he was aware of the death of Kriang Kalptinan former Deputy Minister of Interior and multiple-term Member of Parliament for Ubon Ratchathani representing the Pheu Thai Party, adding that he had worked together during Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's administration and regretted his passing, describing him as a lovely person.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also commented on rumors about replacing Chatichai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC), to serve as Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, saying he has not considered this. When further asked if the rumors were linked to unsettled military personnel reshuffles, the Prime Minister said he was not involved, as that falls under the Defense Council's jurisdiction.
