Regarding the National Security Council Secretary's planned visit to Malaysia on 17-18 August and whether it relates to today's meeting, Sihasak said that beyond facilitating dialogue, Malaysia plays a key role in border security and development. The government wants Malaysia to participate more because it is a shared interest to bring peace to the southern border provinces. They hope Malaysia will increase its involvement and cooperation.
On the causes of prior unrest in the southern border provinces, Sihasak said it is possible that diverse opinions exist among groups involved in the talks. They need to review what additional measures are necessary after incidents occur, including reconsidering the paused dialogue process.
