Cabinet Appoints Chokchai as Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, Extends Tenure of Cabinet Secretary and BOI Secretary for One Year

On 11 Aug 2026, the Cabinet appointed Chokchai, formerly Director-General of the Department of Older Persons, as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, and extended the terms of the Cabinet Secretary and BOI Secretary for one more year until 30 Sep 2027.


On 11 August 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, resolved the following appointments.

The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Transport's proposal to appoint Mr. Piyapong Jiwattanakulpaisan, Senior Executive Director of the Department of Highways, as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry to fill the vacancy created by retirement.

This appointment takes effect from 1 October 2026 onward.
This is effective from the date of royal appointment onward.


The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security's proposal to appoint Mr. Chokchai Wichianchaiya, Director-General of the Department of Older Persons, as Permanent Secretary of the Ministry to fill the upcoming vacancy.

This appointment is effective from 1 October 2026 onward.
This is effective from the date of royal appointment onward.


The Cabinet approved the proposal by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt, who oversees the Secretariat of the Cabinet, to extend the term of Mrs. Natthajari Anantasin, Civil Servant and Cabinet Secretary, for another year from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027, following her first one-year extension ending 30 September 2026.


The Cabinet approved the proposal by Deputy Prime Minister Anekniti Nitithanprapas, overseeing the Office of the Board of Investment, to extend the term of Mr. Narit Therdsteerasak, Civil Servant and Secretary of the BOI, for one more year from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2027 for the benefit of government service.


The Cabinet approved the National Cybersecurity Committee's proposal to appoint seven expert members to replace those whose four-year terms have expired, as follows.

1. Police General Manoo Mekmork (Cybersecurity expert)
2. Mr. Apirat Sirinawin (Information and Communication Technology expert)
3. Associate Professor Jirapol Sangpo (Science or Engineering expert)
4. Professor Somkid Lertpaithoon (Legal expert)
5. Mr. Prasong Poontanes (Finance expert)
6. Mr. Phuwadet Surakot (Public Health expert)
7. Professor Kitsuchat Pasupa (Artificial Intelligence expert)

These appointments are effective from 11 August 2026 onward.


The Cabinet approved the Ministry of Interior's proposal for Lieutenant General Sumet Promtrut to be appointed as an additional member of the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority Board, effective from 11 August 2026 onward.
