The Central Administrative Court revoked the announcement postponing the election of the Social Security Board, ruling it illegal. Yastharam led the Progressive team in celebrating their legal victory, confirming that voting will proceed according to the original schedule on 27 September 2026.
On 11 August 2026 at 15:00, the Central Administrative Court issued a judgment annulling the Election Commission's announcement delaying the election of employer and insured representatives, originally announced on 27 July 2026. Yastharam Thamabusadee and 13 others from the Progressive Social Security team filed suit against the Election Commission, arguing the announcement was unlawful due to the absence of a clear timeframe and was thus illegal.
The court reasoned that the Election Commission's announcement effectively suspended the election process outlined in its 25 May 2026 announcement calling for the election of employer and insured representatives. This suspension halted the election process, and the court found no valid necessity under the Ministry of Labor regulations justifying the announcement. Therefore, the act was illegal.
At 15:35, Yastharam spoke following the court's ruling, saying: Today's Administrative Court ruling means the entire election process must resume following the original timetable. From now on, it is the responsibility of the Social Security Office (SSO) to comply with the court's order and organize the election by the original date (27 September 2026). Allowing the Social Security Board to remain under interim management for nearly six months could cause long-term harm to the fund's administration. The SSO must focus on ensuring the election proceeds on schedule.
Yastharam added that the election is a crucial turning point to return the country’s largest welfare organization to the people. It concerns the money of daily wage earners, 1.2 million children, 200,000 pregnant women, about 900,000 pensioners, and millions of patients. He urged the public to ensure this election is highly participatory, fair, and transparent, encouraging everyone to closely monitor the process so Social Security can truly serve as a reliable support for the people.
