The Election Commission (EC) clarified the issue of an official receiving a transferred amount of 860,000 baht, confirming that this person is an investigator handling fraud cases related to the House of Representatives election and is not involved in the Senate vote-rigging case. The EC has ordered a disciplinary investigation, referred the case to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for criminal prosecution, and has already dismissed the official.
At 18:00 on 11 Aug 2026 GMT+7, the Election Commission Office issued a statement clarifying the case involving disclosures in the Senate vote-rigging investigation. Financial transactions were found in Amnat Charoen Province, involving transfers from an individual to a skilled investigator at the EC Office, totaling 13 transfers amounting to 860,000 baht. Between April and July 2024, the money transfers involved an experienced investigator as reported in the news, who was serving as an EC official assigned to investigate and conduct inquiries into fraud cases related to the House of Representatives election from 7 April to 22 July 2024. This official’s duties were specifically related to the House of Representatives election and had no involvement whatsoever with the election of the Senate members. The EC has taken four measures as follows:
1. The official was ordered to be suspended from work immediately.
2. A disciplinary committee was appointed to conduct a serious investigation. The investigation has been completed and the findings are now under review by the EC Personnel Subcommittee for decisions according to relevant laws and regulations.
3. A criminal complaint was filed with the police against the investigator and two other individuals as reported in the news.
4. The case was reported to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for action under Section 136 of the National Anti-Corruption Act of 2017.
However, the EC has already dismissed the official from service and terminated their employment due to other reasons.
Regarding the financial transactions in four provinces—Nakhon Phanom, Lamphun, Songkhla, and Amnat Charoen—the evidence is included in the investigation dossier. The EC emphasized its utmost commitment to transparency, integrity, and accuracy in all duties, and is prepared to cooperate fully with relevant agencies to thoroughly verify the facts.
