At 08:00 on 12 August 2026, reporters reported that the body of Mr. Krieng Kalptinan former Deputy Minister of the Interior and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ubon Ratchathani from the Pheu Thai Party, was moved out of Vichaiyut Hospital to return for religious rites in Ubon Ratchathani province after the family announced his passing on 11 August.
Today, Mr. Warasit Kalptinan, MP for Ubon Ratchathani from the Pheu Thai Party and son of Mr. Krieng, posted a video onFacebookwith the caption "Taking Father Home." In the video, Warasit and the Kalptinan family, dressed in white clothes and carrying a framed photo of Mr. Krieng alongside a white coffin, are seen leaving the hospital. Warasit stated yesterday that they are expected to arrive in Ubon Ratchathani around 15:00 and that the first funeral prayer ceremony would be held on 13 August.
Meanwhile, Ms. Phittaya Chaisongkram, Mayor of Ubon Ratchathani City and Warasit's spouse, also posted photos and messages onFacebookstating "8:00, taking father home to Ubon Ratchathani... #KriengKalptinan #LongJourney #BecomingAnAngelInHeaven " However, many Facebook users have joined in expressing their condolences on the passing of Mr. Krieng Kalptinan.
