Supachai Reveals Bhumjaithais New Firearms Act Draft with Over 100 Articles Ready for Parliamentary Amendment

The Bhumjaithai Party is moving forward with a new firearms control law draft containing over 100 articles, preparing to submit it to parliament for consideration.

On 12 August 2026, Mr. Supachai Jaisamut, party-list MP and Chairman of the Legal Task Force of the Bhumjaithai Party, announced via his personal Facebook that the party has completed drafting the Firearms, Ammunition, Explosives, Fireworks, and Firearm Simulants Act. The draft covers over 100 articles and is ready to be submitted immediately to the House of Representatives for review.

This new draft law proposes 24 significant amendments to the Firearms Act B.E. 2490 (1947). The main reason is that the original law has been in effect for a long time without substantial revisions, while current technology has rapidly evolved. Consequently, many provisions no longer correspond to the changed social circumstances, causing difficulties for law enforcement and affecting public order and moral standards. Thus, it is necessary to enact this new law to modernize regulations and maximize safety for the public.
