“Kriang Kalptinan” Arrives in Ubon Ratchathani, Royal Water Blessing for Funeral on 13 Aug “Thaksin-Anutin” to Attend

The body of Kriang Kalptinan was brought back to Ubon Ratchathani, where relatives, former Pheu Thai MPs, and the public waited in sorrow. His wife revealed the royal water blessing funeral ceremony is scheduled for 13 August. Thaksin Shinawatra and Anutin Charnvirakul are preparing to attend the funeral rites on 14 August.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on 12 August 2026, reporters reported that the Kalptinan family brought the body of Mr. Kriang Kalptinan former Deputy Minister of the Interior, who departed from Vichaiyut Hospital in Bangkok earlier that morning. The body arrived at the meeting room of the Pheu Thai Party office, MP Warasit Kalptinan, on Burapha Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ubon Ratchathani province, in a van bearing license plate 1 นฉ 9094 from Bangkok. Close relatives and many members of the public gathered to receive the body with deep sorrow. The family and relatives wore white clothing for the ceremony.

Mr. Warasit Kalptinan, MP for Ubon Ratchathani from the Pheu Thai Party and son of Mr. Kriang, carried the incense burner, while Mrs. Rojana Kalptinan, Kriang’s wife, and Ms. Phittaya Chaisongkram, Mayor of Ubon Ratchathani and daughter-in-law, together held a portrait of Mr. Kriang and helped carry the white coffin inside. The abbot, Phra Thepwaracharn, the provincial monastic head and chief monk, led the procession into the ceremony room. Also present to offer support to the Kalptinan family were Mr. Somkid Chueakhong, former MP for Ubon Ratchathani from the Pheu Thai Party, and Mrs. Somying Buabut, former MP for Amnat Charoen from the Pheu Thai Party.

After placing the coffin and portrait of Mr. Kriang on the altar awaiting the ceremony, Mrs. Rojana expressed thanks to all those who came to receive Mr. Kriang’s body and to offer their support. “We have lost our great banyan tree, but the remaining family will continue to uphold Kriang Kalptinan’s commitment to help the people and develop Ubon Ratchathani province until the people no longer trust us,” she said.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Rojana also revealed the schedule, stating that relatives and the public can pay their respects by pouring water over the body starting at noon on 13 August. The royal water blessing funeral ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. that day. His Majesty the King has graciously granted royal patronage for the merit-making ceremonies over three days from 13 to 15 August 2026. It is initially known that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul will attend the funeral rites on 14 August 2026. The royal cremation is scheduled for 22 August 2026 at Wat Mongkolkowittharam, Pathum Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ubon Ratchathani province.
