Je Seth visited Chainat to monitor flood and drought conditions in four river basin provinces, preparing to handle volatile weather by building networks and enabling cross-area support. He emphasized that disaster management requires thinking beyond one's own local area to be effective.
On 12 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Deputy Minister of Interior Je Seth Thaiset visited Chainat province to review plans and preparedness for flood and drought prevention and response. He chaired a meeting monitoring the situation and preparedness plans for Chainat, Lopburi, Singburi, and Uthai Thani provinces at the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center Region 16 in Chainat. He stressed that all agencies must maintain continuous readiness, even though Chainat currently faces no flooding.
Je Seth said this visit was not only to observe immediate disaster situations but to assess how effective each area's "plans and preparedness systems" are, including planning, personnel, machinery, and equipment, so that when incidents occur in any area, support and assistance can be provided quickly.
“On behalf of the government, I want to express concern for the people, especially those in areas at risk of floods and droughts. I have instructed relevant agencies to maintain ongoing preparedness—not waiting for disasters to happen before acting—but to assess situations in advance, preparing personnel, machinery, and equipment. If an area experiences an incident and needs support, assistance must be provided promptly,” Je Seth said.
Je Seth also instructed water authorities to prepare carefully and manage water resources prudently, especially by monitoring situations and planning water supply management to ensure sufficient water for consumption during unstable weather. He urged close monitoring and advance measures to prevent water shortages from affecting the public.
Furthermore, Je Seth ordered relevant agencies to continuously monitor and update information on situations, particularly weather conditions, water levels, and potentially affected areas, and to communicate this information promptly to the public so they can plan travel and daily activities appropriately. Tourists traveling through these areas should also receive timely information to make safe decisions and preparations.
“I ask all agencies to provide the public with continuous and timely updates because accurate and fast information is crucial, especially for residents or tourists planning to travel to these areas. Knowing which locations are at risk, where heavy rain may occur, or situations to watch for will help people plan and prepare accordingly. We aim not only to prepare agencies but also to ensure the public is informed and ready alongside us,” Je Seth said.
After the meeting, Je Seth inspected the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Center Region 16 in Chainat and reviewed the readiness of disaster machinery to ensure that equipment and tools are operational and can be promptly deployed to support affected areas upon request.
“Regarding disasters, we must think beyond our own local areas because disasters do not stop at provincial or national borders. If a severe incident occurs somewhere and requires assistance, we must have a system capable of mobilizing forces and resources to provide support. This is the networked approach that the Ministry of Interior must establish,” Je Seth said.
