The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) provided an update on the progress of resolving the extensive "local exam fraud" case, actively collecting evidence across the country. They confirmed there are no fixed matches nor have they encountered any dead ends.
On 14 Aug 2026 GMT+7, at Park Inn Hotel in Saraburi Province, Mr. Kiattisak Puttapan, Deputy Secretary-General of the NACC, revealed the progress of the investigation into corruption related to the local government employee recruitment exams. He stated that the task force is currently expediting the collection of a large amount of evidence scattered across multiple regions. Given the sensitivity of the case, as some involved parties are implicated, the work is being conducted with utmost caution and thoroughness.
Mr. Kiattisak explained that alongside this, the NACC has formed a separate team dedicated to examining answer sheets specifically, to scientifically determine the extent of any score alterations. This straightforward scientific process is not a concern, but transparency remains the priority. The investigation timeline remains set at three to six months as originally planned.
When asked about expanding the investigation to include senior officials, former Director-General of the Department of Local Administration (DLA), as well as politicians or ministers, the Deputy Secretary-General said that so far, no senior officials have been summoned. The focus is currently on gathering evidence from a large number of lower-level individuals first. However, the NACC does not target individuals arbitrarily but follows the evidence. If suspicious links arise to the former Director-General, favoritism in the TOR preparation, or even ministers, all involved will be summoned for questioning and legal action.
Regarding allegations that the case might be a "fixed match" or that it will run into dead ends, Mr. Kiattisak firmly stated that the NACC has never encountered any dead ends. All actions are based on solid evidence before charges are filed. He is not worried about evidence tampering because the evidence is consistent and difficult to alter. He urged the public to remain patient and calm. Concerning the DLA's plan to submit a list of over 5,925 people involved or links to the 2021 Pattaya local exam fraud, if such information or evidence is received, the NACC is ready to incorporate it into the case to further prosecute the entire group of offenders.
