Aekniti Accelerates Investment Policy to Generate Real Cash Flow in the Economy

"Aekniti–BOI" is accelerating efforts to promote investment policies that generate real cash flow, expecting 535.8 billion baht turnover in half a year, aiming to create more than 630,000 jobs for Thais in high-tech industries.

On 14 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Aekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, serving as Chairman of the Board of Investment Promotion, is pushing forward policies to create "real cash flow" in the economy. He assigned the Board of Investment (BOI) to monitor project progress quarterly and expedite problem-solving and obstacles so that approved projects can proceed with construction, machinery installation, and operations as quickly as possible.

Mr. Narut Terdsathirarak, Secretary-General of the BOI, revealed that in Q2 2026, actual investment exceeded 255 billion baht, a 31% rise from the same period last year. This brought the total actual investment in the first half to 535.8 billion baht, a 27% increase, with these projects planning to employ over 630,000 Thais, more than 60% of whom are in high-tech industries.

The fastest-growing sector is industries related to AI, including optical signal transmission equipment, printed circuit boards (PCBs), data storage devices, smart appliances, and digital infrastructure. These attracted over 127 billion baht in actual investment in Q2, approximately half of all investment during that quarter.

Additionally, investments include 23 billion baht in energy and utilities, 22.3 billion baht in agriculture and food processing, 21 billion baht in minerals, metals, and materials, and 18.2 billion baht in automotive and parts, reflecting widespread capital across new industries and key production bases in the country.

The BOI plans to accelerate efforts through the Thailand FastPass mechanism to unlock obstacles in major projects. The goal is not only to attract investors to the country but to ensure "real investment, real jobs" that benefit Thai businesses in supply chains, exports, and the overall economy.
