Anutin Says Meeting Thaksin Naturally Involves Paying Respects Notes Four Former PMs Are Well Acquainted

Anutin said that when meeting Thaksin, he naturally pays respects by kneeling. They did not discuss anything special, only exchanged inquiries about each other's well-being. He noted that the gathering of four prime ministers consisted entirely of familiar acquaintances and emphasized smooth cooperation with Pheu Thai and good teamwork.

On 14 Aug 2026 in Ubon Ratchathani province, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, also leader of the Bhumjaithai Party, gave an interview after presiding over a Buddhist chanting ceremony for former Deputy Interior Minister Krieng Kalpitanon. The event brought together four prime ministers: Anutin, Thaksin Shinawatra, Paethongtarn Shinawatra, and Somchai Wongsawat, both former prime ministers. Near the end, before Thaksin departed, Anutin was seen kneeling to pay respects to Thaksin.

Anutin said that when he met Thaksin, he naturally knelt because he served as a minister in Thaksin's government since 2004 and was a junior minister whom Thaksin had graciously supported.

When asked what he talked about with Thaksin, Anutin said they did not discuss anything specific but only inquired about each other's well-being. He also had the chance to meet Paethongtarn Shinawatra and Somchai Wongsawat, all of whom are familiar to him.

Asked if he was pleased that four former prime ministers met, Anutin said that now Pheu Thai is a coalition party in government and everyone is already familiar with each other.

Regarding whether the meeting would improve government cooperation, Anutin said relations have always been smooth. Currently, Yotsanan Wongsawat serves as deputy prime minister and head of the Pheu Thai cluster. Additionally, Suriya Jungrungreangkit, Chulanat Amornwiwat, and Prasert Chanruangthong also work well together.
