The government spokesperson revealed that 76% of state welfare cardholders have verified their identities, with 4.4 million rights review submissions, urging the remaining groups to complete the process before 31 August.
On 16 August 2026, Ms. Rachada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, provided an update on identity verification and rights review for the state welfare card program. Data from the Department of Provincial Administration as of 15 August 2026 showed that 2.3 million new cardholders, or 76%, have verified their identities. This is an increase from 2.1 million people, or 69%, on 2 August 2026. Consequently, the number of those yet to verify has decreased from about 980,000 to roughly 800,000. These individuals must verify their identities to proceed to the entitlement phase, which will start on 1 October 2026.
Regarding rights reviews, 4.4 million people who failed the eligibility assessment have submitted requests to review their rights, up from 4.1 million on 2 August 2026. This has reduced the number of those who have not yet applied for review from about 5.2 million to approximately 4.9 million. All reviews must be completed by 31 August 2026.
The spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister stated that these figures reflect that public communication and facilitation by government agencies have steadily increased public participation. Over the past two weeks, about 200,000 people have verified their identities and around 300,000 have submitted rights reviews. Nevertheless, many citizens still need to complete the process, so all relevant agencies continue to intensify their communication and assistance efforts.
