Pheu Thai launched two major rallies supporting “Kaimuk - Chalermkwan Lotrakul” in her campaign for Kalasin Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) governor. Yoschanan delivered speeches highlighting the immediate continuation of work, connecting government and local authorities to improve quality of life and drive agricultural innovation.
On 16 August 2026, the Pheu Thai Party held campaign rallies to support Ms. Chalermkwan Lotrakul or Kaimuk, the Pheu Thai candidate for Kalasin PAO governor. The party organized two main rallies: in the morning at 10:00 a.m. at Noen Yang Pracha Samakkhi School, Noen Yang Subdistrict, Kam Muang District, Kalasin, and in the afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Pu Buakhao Shrine, Kuchinarai District, Kalasin.
The major campaign events featured key Pheu Thai campaign assistants such as Mr. Yoschanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (Minister of HESRI), serving as an advisor to Pheu Thai, along with prominent party leaders including Mr. Natthawut Saiyaku, Ms. Kattiya Sawatphon, party-list MP and deputy secretary-general of Pheu Thai, Mr. Sukit Srichomkwan, deputy secretary to the Prime Minister and Pheu Thai spokesperson, as well as all four Pheu Thai MPs representing Kalasin.
The atmosphere at both venues was lively despite hot weather. When Mr. Yoschanan arrived, a large crowd warmly welcomed him. He greeted people from the back to the front of the stage, receiving floral garlands and silk garlands, and tied a traditional white checked cloth around his waist as a local Isan custom of blessing.
During the rally, Mr. Yoschanan stressed the importance of linking central government work with local administrative organizations, saying life has changed greatly but his happiness whenever visiting Kalasin remains unchanged. Today is crucial regarding who will win the PAO governor seat. The most important starting point is Kalasin itself must win. It must begin with someone who understands grassroots problems and all residents in every subdistrict, district, and province. The people cannot wait even a minute. On the first day the beloved PAO governor takes office, policies must be ready and communicated to everyone.
“Having worked for some time, I see that the government cannot fully perform without connection to PAO and local authorities. That is why I am here personally—to communicate to people that the PAO is very important. Governor Kaimuk has a 'Five Builds' policy: building health, income, education, quality of life, and safe cities. For example, on health, the central government may not even know who needs what kind of care today, but connecting laws, science, and technology will ensure everyone in Kalasin has access to good health through a PAO governor who understands all aspects.”
The Pheu Thai advisor continued that over the next four years, Kalasin will transform alongside government and ministries’ work. Kalasin is a cultural city and sustainable agricultural city. The 'Five Builds' policy aligns with all ministries. Issues to address include poor households, vocational skills enhancement, vulnerable groups, the elderly, flood and drought areas, and natural resources. Regarding Kalasin’s giant freshwater prawn industry, museums, and tourism promotion, Kalasin is not isolated; it has a strong university to provide knowledge to help breed stock, improve varieties, manage irrigation, and livestock including chickens, pigs, beef cattle, and dairy cows. New opportunities include beekeeping, goat and cricket farming, herbal agriculture, and processing. These efforts have begun and are ready to expand to cover all areas.
“This time, no need to rethink; continue and build on existing work. What we really need is unity. Whoever becomes leader must be able to work continuously, connect with all sectors, and pull resources from all ministries. Today, all four Kalasin MPs come to confirm that the people’s choice is trustworthy, and if Kaimuk wins, work can start immediately.”
Mr. Natthawut emphasized he has never changed or left Pheu Thai, whether during the party’s glory or hardship. Kaimuk is party blood and flesh since the Thai Rak Thai era, as her father, Mr. Yongyut Lotrakul, was one of the party’s founders. They are like family and have never moved elsewhere. Thus, his visit is like an elder brother supporting a younger sibling’s fight. He is confident that if Kalasin unites behind Pheu Thai’s candidate, the PAO’s work will succeed and bear fruit.
At the end, Mr. Natthawut said that when he attended the funeral of Mr. Kriang Kalptinan, former Deputy Minister of the Interior, in Ubon Ratchathani province, he met former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who sent his regards to the people of Kalasin and hopes to visit when the opportunity arises.
