On the first day of registration for the Nonthaburi PAO chief position to fill the vacancy, the process was very quiet with no one arriving to register throughout the day. It is believed candidates are still verifying their qualifications.
At 08:30 on 17 Aug 2026 at the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) office, the venue was prepared to receive PAO chief candidates. Mr. Natthapoom Nontasirikul, PAO secretary acting as election director, oversaw the preparations. Ms. Chuleeporn Chanbaipad, director of the Nonthaburi Provincial Election Commission office, and Police Colonel Prut Jamroensart, superintendent of Rattanathibet Police Station, Nonthaburi, attended as observers.
The registration period for the Nonthaburi PAO chief runs daily from 08:30 to 16:30 and will continue until 21 Aug 2026.
Reports indicate that by the end of the first registration day, no candidates had registered for the Nonthaburi PAO chief position. Previously, the Phueng Luang group announced Mr. Naruephon Yenprasert, nephew of Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert, as their candidate, but he has yet to register. It is expected he will do so after the royal funeral ceremony for Pol. Col. Thongchai Yenprasert on 19 Aug 2026. No other candidates, whether independent or party-affiliated, have been named. It is believed potential candidates are currently verifying their qualifications to comply with election laws, as rushing to register without proper qualifications could result in legal penalties.
