Cabinet Sets Bridge Fee for Fifth Friendship Bridge Starting at 50 Baht, Exempts Cross-Border Buses

The Cabinet approved the ministerial regulation on toll fees for the Fifth Friendship Bridge, including exemptions for up to 50 cross-border buses per side.

On 18 August 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the Cabinet approved in principle the draft ministerial regulation setting toll fees for vehicles using the Fifth Friendship Bridge (Bueng Kan - Bolikhamxay) as proposed by the Ministry of Transport, and instructed it to be sent to the Office of the Council of State for review before proceeding with legal formalities.

The toll fee rates for vehicles using the Fifth Friendship Bridge are as follows: passenger cars with up to 7 seats: 50 baht; small buses (more than 7 but not more than 12 seats): 100 baht; medium buses (more than 12 but not more than 24 seats): 150 baht; large buses (more than 24 seats): 200 baht; 4-wheel trucks: 50 baht; 6-wheel trucks: 250 baht; 10-wheel trucks: 350 baht; trucks with more than 10 wheels: 500 baht.

Additionally, the draft regulation exempts toll fees for international bus services operating on the Bueng Kan - Bolikhamxay route and the Bolikhamxay - Bueng Kan route, as well as for official vehicles from the Kingdom of Thailand, up to 50 vehicles, and from the Lao People's Democratic Republic, also up to 50 vehicles. These exemptions are based on jointly agreed toll exemption card formats by officials from both countries to facilitate cross-border operations and public transport.
