Deputy Education Minister Akkranun Advances Scout Office Land Management to Generate Income and Reduce Government Budget Dependence

The Deputy Minister of Education is advancing a management plan for the Scout Office's land to generate self-reliant income, reduce government budget dependence, and transparently fund youth development activities.

On 18 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Akkranun Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, revealed plans to prepare a nationwide management strategy for the Scout Office's land and assets to maximize their benefit. The approach focuses on developing existing assets to add value and generate additional revenue for the Scout Office, enabling it to become self-sufficient without needing to request or divert government budgets from crucial child and youth development missions.

Akkranun stated that the Scout Office currently holds land and assets of significant value. The key is to have a proper, transparent management vision that prioritizes maximum benefit. Any underutilized land should be seriously considered for development to generate income returning to the organization and reduce long-term reliance on government funding.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that management must be systematic, verifiable, and cost-effective, ensuring no land or assets go to waste. However, the focus is not just on revenue generation; the ultimate goal is that all benefits serve children, youth, and scouting activities so the Scout Office remains strong with sufficient resources to run various programs.

"Before considering additional budget requests, we should review what we currently have that is underutilized and whether it can be further developed. Proper management of existing assets can create value and lessen future budget burdens, ensuring these assets concretely benefit society and youth," Akkranun concluded.
