Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration Urgently Orders Launch of Operation Relieve Suffering, Promote Well-being, Protect Public Peace, Eradicate Drugs, Defeat Criminals

The Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration urgently ordered the launch of the operation "Relieve Suffering, Promote Well-being, Protect Public Peace, Eradicate Drugs, Defeat Criminals," intensifying efforts to suppress drugs, firearms, and illegal items in line with government policy.

18 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Naruecha Khosasivilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, signed an urgent letter to all provincial governors nationwide, stressing the need to enhance security measures, strictly control firearms, drugs, and illegal items. He also emphasized the prevention of violence and crime to build public confidence and safety effectively and achieve tangible results aligned with government directives and policies.

, He ordered every district chief to strictly implement the operation "Relieve Suffering, Promote Well-being, Protect Public Peace, Eradicate Drugs, Defeat Criminals" during August-September 2026. This involves integrating the forces of local administrative officials, including district chiefs, deputy district chiefs, village headmen, village chiefs, assistant village chiefs, sub-district police inspectors, members of the Volunteer Defense Corps (Or Sor), and village security teams, along with relevant agency officers, to jointly maintain order and public safety.

Teams for inspection and patrol must be deployed daily to monitor and prevent risk factors that could lead to violence or crime, with special focus on controlling and preventing offenses related to both legal and illegal firearms, combating drugs, and other illegal items in the area.

If offenses are found, officials must enforce the law strictly, following the principle "ignore names, focus on behavior," aiming for straightforward, transparent, and non-discriminatory enforcement that prioritizes the nature of the offense to truly maintain public order and safety.

Additionally, the Director-General instructed provinces to continuously monitor and report operational results by submitting daily reports of significant incidents via regional LINE groups such as "Northern Region Significant Events," "Central Region Significant Events," "Northeastern Region Significant Events," or "Southern Region Significant Events," as appropriate, to assess progress and drive effective measures.
