Deputy Minister Jeset Orders 30-Day Closure of Bang Bua Thong Shooting Range Following Death Investigation

The Deputy Minister of Interior is monitoring the death incident at Bang Bua Thong shooting range and has ordered a 30-day closure for investigation.

On 18 August 2026, Mr. Jeset Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, visited the site to follow up on the death of an individual while using the Bang Bua Thong shooting range in Bang Bua Thong Subdistrict, Bang Bua Thong District, Nonthaburi Province. He was accompanied by Mr. Apichai Aramsri, Deputy Governor of Nonthaburi, Mr. Phairoj Jungthanacharoen, District Chief of Bang Bua Thong, alongside administrative officials, police, and related agencies to inspect the site.

Mr. Jeset revealed that after receiving reports from the Nonthaburi Governor about the incident, he personally checked the safety measures, including the operating license and the firearms used in the incident, finding them initially compliant with legal regulations. Administrative officers will conduct a more detailed and rigorous inspection. Currently, regulations for shooting ranges vary depending on each facility’s own rules. Therefore, future legislation (the draft royal decree on shooting ranges) being prepared by the government will set standardized regulations to enhance oversight.

The Deputy Minister added that the draft royal decree on shooting ranges, currently being developed by the government, will cover both public and private ranges. It will clearly specify usage regulations, safety measures, and qualifications for range supervisors. This framework will work with administrative authorities to control and accelerate the removal of illegal firearms from circulation to ensure public safety.

Initially, Mr. Jeset has ordered the closure of the Bang Bua Thong shooting range for 30 days to allow for a thorough investigation.
