
The Social Security Office announced the names and candidate numbers for the Social Security Board election, emphasizing that all eligible insured persons do not need to pre-register and should exercise their voting rights on 27 September 2026.
19 August 2026 GMT+7 The Social Security Office (SSO) has officially announced the names and numbers of candidates running for the Social Security Board from both the employer and insured person sides. This announcement follows the completion of the application process and verification of related information.
The SSO has verified the qualifications of employers and insured persons according to the established criteria and found a total of 180 eligible candidates: 78 from the employer side and 102 from the insured persons. Meanwhile, the Social Security Board election for both employer and insured person representatives will take place nationwide on Sunday, 27 September 2026, from 08:00 to 16:00. This allows employers and insured persons to vote for their representatives to participate in directing and developing the social security system. Elected board members will play a key role in reviewing and proposing ways to manage the social security system effectively, transparently, and in line with stakeholders' needs.
At the same time, the Social Security Office clarified an important change in election rules: previously, voters had to pre-register to vote, but this time, all qualified employers and insured persons can directly vote on election day without prior registration.
- Insured persons (under Sections 33, 39, and 40) must be Thai nationals, continuously insured for at least six months (from November 2025 to April 2026), and have contributed to the Social Security Fund for at least three months within those six months before the election announcement.
- Employers must be Thai nationals, registered as employers under Social Security law continuously for at least six months (November 2025 to April 2026), and have contributed to the Social Security Fund for at least three months within those six months before the election announcement. If a legal entity, the candidate must have authority to act on behalf of the entity.
