19 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, posted a message via hispersonal Facebook page.He commented on the flooding situation in Pua District, Nan Province, during his official visit to Australia, stating that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Yotsanan Wongsawat, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Deputy Minister of Interior Jeset Thaises, and Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister Theerarat Samretwanich are currently entering the Nan area.
"The government has ordered all sectors to mobilize full assistance to resolve the flash flood situation and provide comprehensive aid to the affected people. I send my concern and support to all residents in Nan Province."
Later, Suriya revealed that per the Prime Minister’s directive, all sectors must fully care for and assist residents amid the Nan flooding, especially regarding evacuation and ensuring sufficient prepared boxed meals. The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives stands ready to act immediately to alleviate hardship for all affected residents.
Today, the Royal Irrigation Department’s Smart Water Operations Center (SWOC), which closely monitors water and weather conditions, reported that the Meteorological Department has warned of heavy to very heavy rain, particularly in northern and upper northeastern regions. Nan Province remains under special surveillance due to high accumulated rainfall in several districts, causing water levels in the upper Nan River to rise. In the past 24 hours, Nan has experienced heavy to very heavy rain with significant accumulation in areas including Phanasawan School in Phuka Subdistrict, Ban Rong Ngae community in Woranakhon Subdistrict, and Lam Nam Kun in Sila Laeng Subdistrict, Pua District.
"Today, I have canceled all internal Ministry of Agriculture duties to personally monitor the flood situation in Nan Province along with relevant ministry executives. We have prepared immediate assistance measures for farmers and residents upon arrival, including help with moving belongings and livestock, reducing agricultural product damage, preparing livestock feed supplies, medicines, and medical supplies. The Ministry urges residents in risk areas of Nan, especially those living in lowlands, riverside areas, and flood-prone zones, to closely follow water levels and official alerts to prepare for rapidly changing conditions."
Additionally, he has ordered the Nan Irrigation Project and the Royal Irrigation Office 2 to be fully prepared for water management, maintaining 24-hour surveillance of water and weather conditions. They will manage and discharge water according to the situation and coordinate closely with the provincial governor and related agencies to maximize water management efficiency and minimize impacts on residents.
Meanwhile, the Royal Irrigation Department has already provided the following assistance:
1. Installed one 24-inch water pump in Mueang Nan District and eleven 8-inch pumps in Wiang Sa District.
2. Mobilized machinery and equipment including backhoes and seven dump trucks to clear waterway obstructions and bridge neck areas.
3. Monitored, guarded, and prepared prevention measures in close cooperation with the provincial governor, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, and local agencies.
