
Chulaphan has assigned five agencies to address flooding in Nan, emphasizing that employees unable to work should be regarded as taking unpaid leave. He revealed relief measures for after the flood and expressed concern for the safety of all Nan residents.
19 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chulaphan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labour, commented on the flood situation in Nan province viahis personal Facebook page.He stated, "I would like to send my concern and encouragement to all citizens, including workers and business owners in Nan province, who are currently facing flooding. The government is coordinating with all agencies to provide assistance, alleviate suffering, and fully restore the affected areas."
Mr. Chulaphan further explained that for workers and businesses affected by the flood and unable to perform their duties normally, the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare under the Ministry of Labour has issued relief measures to ease the burdens on both employees and employers as follows:
1. Employee leave rights Employees who cannot travel to work will be considered on leave without pay, not counting as formal leave days.
2. Employer relief after the flood: Employers may apply for loans from the Occupational Safety, Health, and Working Environment Fund to repair and restore damaged workplaces. Loan terms with low interest rates will be set based on individual necessity.
Additionally, he ordered the Ministry of Labour executives to mobilize five affiliated agencies—the provincial labour office, provincial employment office, provincial skill development office, provincial labour protection and welfare office, and provincial social security office—to monitor the situation on-site and prepare to fully assist workers and business owners.
The Minister of Labour concluded, "I wish all Nan residents safety and urge caution regarding rising water levels. For assistance or more information, please contact the provincial labour protection and welfare office or the Ministry of Labour hotline at 1506, available 24 hours. We will overcome this crisis together."
