
Deputy Minister Jeset leads a team on flat-bottomed boats to expedite evacuating villagers before dark amid concerns that floodwaters will rise sharply tonight, while the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation issues a warning that Nan River levels in Mueang Nan District continue to rise.
At 18:00 on 19 August 2026, Deputy Minister Jeset Thaiset of the Ministry of Interior visited Pua District, Nan Province, to personally command and monitor the flood situation after water levels in the area showed a continuous upward trend.
Upon arrival, Deputy Minister Jeset boarded a flat-bottomed boat with officials to assist and evacuate residents from risk areas, stating that as night approaches, rescue operations and travel will become more difficult. With water levels expected to rise further tonight, efforts to evacuate as many people as possible from danger zones are urgent. He also ordered all officials to closely monitor the situation and prioritize the safety of the people above all else.
"We must not be careless tonight. In any risky area, evacuation of residents must be expedited. Safety comes first," Deputy Minister Jeset said.
At 18:59, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation sent a Cell Broadcast message warning residents that Nan River levels in Mueang Nan District are continuously rising and beginning to overflow. Residents living along the Nan River, especially in Bo, Nai Wiang, Kong Khwai, and Du Tai subdistricts, are urged to immediately move belongings to higher ground, relocate vehicles, and evacuate vulnerable groups.
