Police Committee to Invite DSI for Briefing on Phuket MP from Orange Party Involved in Nominee Company Allegations

The Police Committee plans to invite the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to provide information on reports that a Phuket MP from the Orange Party is involved with nominee companies. They urge those implicated in the circulating news to come forward and demonstrate their innocence rather than remain silent.

On 19 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Watcharapong Kuvijitsuwan, Chair of the Police Committee of the House of Representatives and MP for Saraburi from the Bhumjaithai Party, revealed that there are reports the DSI intends to summon Mr. Somchat Techathaworncharoen, also known as Lawyer Keng, an MP from Phuket representing the People's Party, for questioning. This follows findings linking him to financial pathways in legal entities alleged to be nominee companies. He reportedly holds shares and serves as an authorized director in over 30 companies, which do not conduct real business but focus on holding land and condominium units valued at more than 100 million baht, jointly with foreigners. The question is whether this information is true.

Mr. Watcharapong stated that the Police Committee plans to summon the DSI director and related officials to provide information to verify whether these activities actually occurred, whether the case will be classified as a special investigation, and if there are legal violations or evidence of nominee arrangements for foreigners. This is because such activities contradict the policy of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul's government, which aims to seriously eradicate such networks as they pose threats to national security, sovereignty, as well as social and economic stability.

Mr. Watcharapong added that he calls on the People's Party to seriously clarify and investigate the matter, just as political opponents are scrutinized. Likewise, Mr. Somchat, who is implicated in these reports, should come forward to show his innocence and not remain silent.
