NTBC Board Meetings Cancelled Throughout August Due to Lack of Quorum

NTBC board meetings were cancelled six times in August consecutively due to insufficient quorum. Emeritus Professor Pirongrong Ramsut posted on Facebook, pinning the NTBC office location and stating, "Ready to attend meetings in accordance with the law."

On 20 August 2026 at the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NTBC) office, the NTBC board convened again as scheduled. Previously, five consecutive meetings had been cancelled due to lack of quorum. Today, they again could not proceed with key agenda items, marking the sixth failed meeting since the Prime Minister submitted a royal petition requesting the NTBC chairman's removal on 11 August.

At the scheduled start time around 09:30, Clinical Professor Dr. Saran Boonbaichayapruk presided over the meeting as planned. However, the meeting could not commence due to an insufficient quorum. Three NTBC board members—Air Marshal Thanaphan Raycharoen, Emeritus Professor Dr. Pirongrong Ramsut, and Mr. Suphat Supacholasai—did not attend, exercising their right to reserve their position citing legal reasons.

Associate Professor Dr. Sompop Purivikrayapong notified in advance that he would be absent, contributing to the lack of quorum. Meanwhile, Mr. Torpong Selanon and Police General Natthorn Paosunthorn joined the meeting online. After leaving the meeting room, Dr. Saran immediately returned to his office without speaking to the media.

Emeritus Professor Pirongrong posted on his personal Facebook, pinning his location at the NTBC office. The post included a photo with Mr. Suphat and Air Marshal Thanaphan, two other NTBC board members, along with the message: "Ready to attend meetings in accordance with the law."

Reporters further noted that the NTBC office has scheduled new board meetings in September 2026 on the 2nd, 3rd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 17th, and 23rd.
