Somchat, MP for Phuket from the Prachachon Party, met with the DSI today after being accused of acting as a nominee. He explained that he runs diverse businesses and insisted that not even a sliver of a square millimeter of Thai land has fallen into foreign hands.
On 20 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Somchat Techathavorncharoen, Member of Parliament for Phuket Constituency 1 from the Prachachon Party. Posted a message viaFacebookstating that following severe accusations by some media outlets claiming he is a nominee for foreigners, today he would travel to meet the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) to present himself with full transparency, provide useful information, and express his willingness to fully cooperate in the investigation until the matter is resolved. He emphasized he would attend every appointment, even if not formally summoned.
“I firmly affirm that I have done nothing as alleged. I am simply a businessman engaged in various ventures, one of which involves investment and leasing in real estate—the source of these exaggerated accusations. I assure that in conducting my business, not a single square millimeter of Thai land has fallen into foreign hands, nor has any been taken from Thai people by foreigners. I will never allow such an outcome to occur.”
Somchat also added that he wishes to leave a final note: playing politics beyond legal boundaries—regardless of color—if it infringes on the lawful rights and freedoms of individuals like himself, he will stand firm and fight fully within the legal framework. If he cannot even defend his own rights, he would not dare to be a people's representative or fight to protect the supreme rights and powers of the people against any covert forces.
