Rome Assures No Complacency, Supports Investigation of Phuket MP Somchat, Vows No Protection if Guilty

"Rome" confirmed he is not complacent and supports an investigation into Somchat Techathaworncharoen, Phuket MP, stating that if wrongdoing is confirmed, the Prachachon Party will not protect him.

At 13:30 on 20 Aug 2026 GMT+7. Mr. Rangsima Rome. Rangsima Rome, a party-list Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Leader of the Prachachon Party, spoke at the parliament regarding the case involving Mr. Somchat Techathaworncharoen, Phuket MP from the Prachachon Party. He clarified that he is not involved with the 28 nominee companies, but since the full list of companies has not been reported to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), it could be considered as asset concealment.

Mr. Rangsima said, "This issue should be separated into two points: 1. Nominee companies, 2. Asset concealment." Regarding asset concealment, I understand it is currently under the NACC's process because MPs have the duty to report information to the NACC. Therefore, if the facts match the news reports, the NACC can take action. As for the nominee companies, we previously referred the matter to the Department of Business Development through the Parliamentary Committee on Political Development, Mass Communication, and Public Participation. I assure you we are not complacent and support a serious investigation. As far as I know, the Department of Business Development has not yet confirmed the nominee company issue. If nominee companies are found to exist, we are willing to support legal proceedings.

Asked if he feels burdened by recurring issues like this in the Prachachon Party, Mr. Rangsima said, "We do not want these issues to arise. The most important thing is to deal with them properly. Given these developments, the Prachachon Party will act according to the law. The standard we want to see in politicians is not to protect wrongdoers. Therefore, if wrongdoing is evident, we must take action. However, the party's ability to act may have more limitations than legal proceedings."

Today, allegations have surfaced that the Phuket MP is involved with nominee companies. What we are doing is cooperating with the highest-authority agencies responsible for this matter. The best agency to investigate is the NACC because, in practice, before submitting asset declarations, especially in my case, they are submitted to the NACC, not the party. Thus, the NACC has the best access to data and can retrospectively verify whether submitted assets are accurate. .
