The government announced that on the second day of TH-AI Passport registration, more than 1 million people have signed up, reflecting strong readiness among Thais to embrace and learn AI.
On 20 Aug 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, provided an update on the TH-AI Passport project, saying public response continues to grow steadily. According to data from the National Digital Economy and Society Committee (NDESC) at 5:00 p.m. on 20 Aug 2026, registrations reached 1,033,635, up from 532,692 at the same time the previous day — an increase of 500,943 within 24 hours — surpassing the 1 million mark.
Ms. Lalida said this figure is noteworthy because it means nearly double the number of people registered within just one day. This reflects heightened awareness among Thais about AI technology and their desire to access new tools for learning, work, creativity, and careers.
“At 5:00 p.m. yesterday, we had 532,692 registered users. By the same time today, that number rose to 1,033,635 — an increase of over 500,000 in a single day. The interesting point is not just passing the one million mark, but the rapid rate of public response, which shows that Thais are eager to embrace and learn AI. Our next mission is to translate this interest into actual usage and widespread benefit for the public,” Ms. Lalida said.
The Deputy Spokesperson added that the goal of TH-AI Passport is not just the number of applicants but to provide opportunities for people to experiment with various AI tools and learn which are best suited to their work. The project aims to support up to 5 million people, and the latest figure of over 1.03 million represents more than 20% of that target.
For those who have successfully registered, preparations are underway before the official launch of the AiPASS platform on 31 Aug 2026. This will mark an important start for users to experiment with and apply AI in real life. The government expects the project to expand AI usage from tech-savvy groups to a broader public.
“The government wants AI to be an opportunity for all Thais, whether students, workers, entrepreneurs, or the general public. Having more than 1 million registrations in such a short time is just the beginning. The more important goal is enabling people to use AI to enhance skills, improve work efficiency, and create economic opportunities,” the Deputy Spokesperson said.
The TH-AI Passport project aims to support up to 5 million people and will officially launch the AiPASS platform on 31 Aug 2026. Interested individuals can pre-register at de.aipass.net, and if they encounter any issues, they can contact the Call Center at 02-021-0300.
