Peoples Party MPs Assist Nan Residents with House Cleaning After Floodwaters Recede, Monitor Incoming Water Flow to Wiang Sa District

People's Party MPs from Nan and Chiang Mai have gone on-site to assist Nan residents in cleaning their homes and removing mud to restore conditions after floodwaters receded, while also monitoring incoming water flows toward Wiang Sa District.

On 20 August 2026, the People's Party team from Nan Province, led by MP Chaowich Innoi of Nan District 1, MP Charoen Apipattakosol of Nan District 3, and MP Phattharaphong Leelaphat of Chiang Mai—who also serves as chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation—continued their presence in Nan to aid flood victims and accelerate restoration in areas where water levels have begun to drop.

In Mueang Nan District, Chaowich and Phattharaphong closely monitored the flood situation, focusing on the worst-hit area of Ban Don Mun in Du Tai Subdistrict, which suffers repeated annual flooding. The deepest point reached water levels up to 3 meters with strong currents. The team received support from Chiang Mai special rescue volunteers and the Phuttha Thaisawan Foundation of Lopburi Province, utilizing motorboats to survey drainage channels and distribute lunch to stranded flood victims inside their homes.

In areas where water levels have receded, restoration efforts began. In Tha Wang Pha District, Chaowich and his team used tractors to push mud and clear debris, washing and cleaning roads in Ban Don Tan (Sri Phum Subdistrict) and Ban Don Kaeo (Pa Kha Subdistrict) to enable residents to resume normal travel quickly. Meanwhile, in Pua District, Charoen and his team, along with volunteer groups, worked intensively to wash away mud inside homes and clean personal belongings to restore living conditions for residents to return to normal life promptly.

However, the highest alert remains in Wiang Sa District, where the People's Party team is tracking water masses flowing from Mueang Nan District toward Wiang Sa. This area is the main catchment for all water flowing from the Nan, Wa, and Sa rivers. The team is preparing for close monitoring and has issued warnings urging local residents to prepare and stay updated with emergency announcements continuously.

The People's Party team, including networks from Nan and Chiang Rai provinces as well as ethnic group support teams, confirmed their full readiness to continue working alongside the people. All problems, obstacles, and community feedback observed during fieldwork will be brought forward to the Parliamentary Committee on Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to drive structural solutions, enhance the national disaster response plan, and prevent citizens from suffering repeated flood damages in the future.
