Paethongtarn Shinawatra has instructed all Pheu Thai ministers who are not occupied with duties to visit the upper northern flood areas this weekend and assist in coordinating with government agencies to help the people.
On 20 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters reported that Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, former Prime Minister and advisor to the Pheu Thai Party, has urged all party ministers who are free from official duties this Friday through Sunday to visit the upper northern flood zones. Continuous rainfall has expanded flooding from Mae Hong Son down to Nan, Phrae, and Uttaradit provinces. Currently, in Sukhothai province, water is flowing into the Yom River, flooding agricultural lands and residents' homes.
Therefore, all Pheu Thai ministers free from duties this weekend are requested to visit the affected areas to assist residents and facilitate coordination with responsible agencies in each ministry as an urgent measure to reduce problems and ease the hardships faced by the people. MPs are also asked to visit these areas to help coordinate government aid efforts.
