On 20 August 2026, Mr. Mongkol Surasajja, President of the Senate, chaired the meeting of the Senate Special Affairs Committee (Senate Steering Committee) at meeting rooms 406-407 to prepare for the second ordinary annual session of the Senate, starting on 25 August 2026. A key agenda is to establish a standing committee to investigate the backgrounds, conduct, and ethical behavior of persons nominated for the position of State Audit Commission (SAC) members. The meeting tasked various committees to consider three important motions: proactive elimination of the black-barbel catfish, assigned to the Agriculture and Cooperatives Committee; solutions for pollution in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province, assigned jointly to the Commerce and Industry Committee and the Natural Resources and Environment Committee; and the proposal to restructure and rename the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, assigned to the Special Committee reviewing the draft law on ministry, bureau, and department reorganization.
