“Yotsanan” Mobilizes Over 700 Soldiers to Clean Mud After Floodwaters Recede, Surveys Damaged Homes

Deputy Prime Minister Yotsanan mobilizes full forces to restore flood-affected Nan province, focusing on Pua district. Over 700 soldiers are deployed to clean mud, with police instructed to clear traffic and open routes quickly. On 22 Aug 2026 GMT+7, at the Nan Provincial Command Center, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Yotsanan Wongsawat, acting as chairman of the Northern Region Flood and Drought Prevention Committee, presided over a meeting to review flood conditions and coordinate relief efforts. The meeting included the Governor of Nan, district chiefs, and relevant agencies attending in person and via video conference. The meeting received progress reports on troop deployment for public assistance, dispatching 40 military engineers with machinery from Phitsanulok province, 550 soldiers from the 38th Military Circle, and 80 soldiers from the 34th–35th Military Circles. The Deputy Prime Minister ordered coordination with Pua district officials to distribute forces on-site and expand aid continuously to other locations. Concurrently, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Provincial Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning to conduct further damage assessments of homes to ensure comprehensive allocation of aid and restoration. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed concern over the mental well-being of flood victims, especially families with severely damaged homes. After a field survey conducted the previous day revealed the situation, he directed the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and local agencies to provide psychological support alongside housing repairs. The district chief will coordinate with Somdej Phra Yuparaj Pua Hospital to deploy medical teams to assess and care for the mental health of affected residents closely.
