Warawut announced that the Ministry of Industry has established the 'United Industry Center' to drive recovery efforts in Nan after floodwaters have receded, ordering rapid assistance for residents and entrepreneurs to help the economy resume circulation and activity.
On 22 August 2026, Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, directed Ministry executives regarding the flood situation in the northern region, especially in Nan province, outlining three phases: 1) preparation before the disaster, 2) operational guidelines during the disaster, and 3) assistance and recovery after the disaster.
Initially, a coordination center was established locally to liaise with the province and related agencies. All departments were instructed to prepare aid for affected people through the industrial network, including drinking water, food, water pumps, trucks, and necessary equipment. The Department of Industrial Works was tasked to notify establishments at risk of chemical or hazardous substance impact on the environment and public, particularly wastewater treatment systems, to prevent leaks or contamination from flooding. Local officials were urged to maintain their own safety to avoid burdening rescue teams and to assist affected residents as much as possible.
During the critical recovery phase, factories and businesses must be inspected to ensure safety before reopening, including electrical systems, machinery, and wastewater treatment. The Ministry will dispatch teams to assist with inspection, repairs, and advice to expedite reopening. SME D Bank was instructed to consider debt relief and liquidity enhancement measures to help affected business clients in the disaster area.
Warawut assigned Natthaphon Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, to chair a meeting to monitor the situation and prepare assistance for affected residents, entrepreneurs, and officials in the northern flood areas. This involved Ministry executives, provincial industry officers, and relevant officials, conducted via Zoom at the Chunhawan Conference Room of the Ministry's Office on 21 August.
Natthaphon reported that flood monitoring in the north showed most areas were normal, with updates from local authorities. Only Nan province suffered flash floods and flash floods, flooding offices and staff residences on the first floor by about 1–2 meters. Water levels have since receded. The Industry Promotion Centers in Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and the Creative Industrial Materials Research and Development Center in Lampang established the 'United Industry Center' to coordinate and distribute aid to affected people. The Department of Industrial Promotion was assigned to provide consultation, advice, and recovery assistance, while the Northern Industrial Estate Office was instructed to maintain high alert, especially in the Lamphun and Phichit industrial estates. SME D Bank and the SME Development Fund under the Pracharat initiative prepared financial measures to assist loan clients impacted by the floods. Provincial industrial offices and nearby agencies were tasked to support manpower, machinery, tools, and cleaning equipment to restore homes, businesses, offices, and staff residences promptly once conditions allow.
The Ministry also instructed provincial industrial offices to systematically survey damage, needs, and impacts on local entrepreneurs, compiling data to devise assistance, compensation, and recovery measures for affected industrial operators, enabling them to resume operations quickly to sustain the local economy and employment.
The Ministry of Industry is preparing to distribute survival kits and essential items under the 'United Industry' initiative to aid those affected by the flooding. Additionally, it has expanded channels for reporting incidents and requesting help for businesses through the Ministry's hotline at 1564.
