Prime Minister Urges Swift Flood Relief in Nan, Ministry of Interior Orders Streamlined Documentation Process: Citizens Do Not Need to Photocopy Documents

The Prime Minister has urged the acceleration of flood relief efforts in Nan. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has instructed local authorities to facilitate aid for disaster victims by simplifying document submission procedures, stressing that "citizens do not need to photocopy documents."

On 22 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Saengchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that following the floods, flash floods, and landslides in Nan province, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has urged all government agencies to expedite assistance to alleviate suffering and enable residents to return to normal life quickly. He emphasized that relief efforts must be swift and comprehensive, ensuring no victims are left waiting for aid. Relevant agencies must take proactive action by surveying damages and promptly disbursing compensation according to regulations.

Ms. Ploytale stated that the Comptroller General’s Department approved an extension of the emergency advance fund authority for the governor of Nan province by an additional 100 million baht. This fund is designated to assist disaster victims in emergencies, especially for flood relief and compensation for damaged homes.

Regarding the application process for aid, Deputy Minister of Interior Je-sed Thaiseth emphasized that government agencies and local administrative organizations must facilitate assistance and reduce procedural steps to avoid burdening citizens. Disaster victims are not required to submit photocopies of ID cards, house registrations, or flood photos; instead, they should report their information to community leaders or village chiefs, who will compile and forward it to the district authorities for further processing.

Additionally, the Comptroller General’s Department approved exceptions to the standard criteria, methods, and conditions for using emergency advance funds for disaster relief in Nan province, as proposed by the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation. This aims to ensure timely assistance so residents can resume normal life quickly. Approved expenses include: 1) evacuation costs to safe areas and temporary shelters, considering situational appropriateness; 2) management costs for temporary shelters, such as site improvements, essential supplies, cleaning and waste disposal labor or materials, portable or temporary toilets, and other urgent expenses for maintaining evacuees’ well-being; 3) expenses for purchasing and procuring cleaning materials for homes and public areas to restore normalcy, as well as compensation and travel costs for assigned personnel working in affected areas who cannot be reimbursed under standard regulations.

"The Prime Minister has ordered rapid damage assessments and aid disbursements according to criteria, facilitating and simplifying application procedures through electronic channels to ensure flood victims receive prompt help, enabling them to resume their lives and restore affected areas as quickly as possible," she said. Ms. Ploytale reiterated the message.
