Prime Minister Anutin Holds Security Meeting After Unrest in Southern Border Provinces Before Flying to Monitor Nan Floods

Prime Minister Anutin emphasized protecting citizens and strict law enforcement following unrest in the southern border provinces. Meanwhile, the Fourth Army Region Commander reported from the field by phone during a tense meeting lasting over an hour before the Prime Minister flew to monitor floods in Nan.


At 08:05 on 23 Aug 2026 GMT+7, reporters announced that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Chanvirakul arrived at Military Airport 2, Wing 6 (On.6) to visit Nan province to monitor flood conditions and response efforts. He wore his official uniform for today's duties.

Before traveling to Nan, the Prime Minister convened a security meeting to follow up and receive reports on unrest in several locations within the three southern border provinces during the previous night (22 Aug). Attending were Defense Minister Lt. Gen. Adul Boonthamcharoen, Army Commander Gen. Phana Klaewplodtuk, Army Chief of Staff Gen. Chaiphruek Duangpraphat, Secretary-General of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) Mr. Assit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry Mr. Naruecha Kosavisivilai, and Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration.

Meanwhile, Fourth Army Region Commander Lt. Gen. Narathip Phoynok called to report the situation from the area to the Prime Minister, who instructed strict care for the injured citizens and firm law enforcement measures. The Prime Minister's meeting lasted more than one hour before he departed at 09:35 by plane to monitor flood situations in Nan province.
