The Ministry of Agriculture has revised its criteria for emergency disaster relief assistance to farmers, limiting compensation to a maximum of 30 rai per household.
On 23 Aug 2026, Captain Pathdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives has declared detailed operational guidelines for agricultural assistance in emergency disaster cases for 2026. This replaces the 2021 criteria and has been effective since 21 Aug 2026 to expedite aid to farmers nationwide affected by natural disasters.
The new criteria increase per-rai compensation rates (capped at 30 rai per household) for total damage as follows: paddy fields increased from 1,340 baht to 2,340 baht per rai; field crops and vegetables from 1,980 baht to 3,480 baht per rai; and fruit trees, perennial plants, and others from 4,048 baht to 6,800 baht per rai.
Additionally, assistance has been added for fruit and perennial trees with stunted growth but still recoverable at 3,600 baht per rai. The dredging fee for soil, mud, and debris removal in non-arable areas (up to 5 rai inaccessible to government agencies) has been increased from a maximum of 7,000 baht per rai to 16,000 baht per rai.
The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized that this adjustment reflects current production costs. Eligible farmers must register or update their registration with the Department of Agricultural Extension before the disaster and be located in areas declared disaster zones by provincial governors. After a disaster, farmers can submit form KAS 01 at the district agriculture office to enter the survey and community consultation process and receive direct transfers to their BAAC accounts.
