Prime Minister Nu Urges Thai Unity Unrelated to Amnesty Granting

Thai people must stay united, Prime Minister Anutin said unity is not dependent on amnesty being granted. He urged officials, soldiers, and volunteers to remain motivated to protect the country after the Government Gazette published the Social Harmony Promotion Act.


At 18:10 on 23 August 2026 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul gave an interview in Ubon Ratchathani Province regarding the publication today on the Government Gazette website of the Social Harmony Promotion Act B.E. 2569 (read more:the Social Harmony Promotion Act was promulgated, effective from 24 Aug.) or the law granting amnesty to protesters or political expression from 1 January 2005 to 16 July 2025. He was asked about the political atmosphere moving forward.

The Prime Minister stated, "We Thai people should maintain unity. It is not about waiting for amnesty to unite. We are all Thai. There are many enemies wishing harm to our country. What will bring victory and confidence, and unity among our people, is that we should not slander one another or say things that undermine morale. This includes officials who might be affected. We must support our officials, soldiers, and volunteers to have the morale to defend our country, to protect our home." .
